Our Purpose
PURPOSE
Our purpose is to provide a high quality summer program of competitive swimming for the accomplished competitive swimmer and the child who is just beginning competitive swimming. Workouts are Monday through Friday at the outdoor Waverly Municipal Pool. The season runs from early June through July (dates vary).
Waverly Area Swim Club is a parent-run and not-for-profit club. It is a member of the Big Six Swim Club which also includes Dike, Dysart, Independence, Parkersburg, LaPorte City, and Oelwein. Swimmers train under experienced coaches that encourage each swimmer to improve their individual skills and performance.
The program is open to children ages 5 - 18. The minimum requirement for the team is to swim 25 yards without stopping or needing assistance. If your child does not meet the minimum requirement, we strongly recommend attending swim lessons.
GOAL
Improve the skills of each individual swimmer.
Build the endurance of the swimmer.
Provide competition against other teams throughout the local area.
Develop a feeling of pride and accomplishment.
WASC Handbook & FAQ
This amazing document has a wealth of information about WASC (a parent-run non-profit swim club) and swim meets. Please review it and reference it frequently. Feel free to print a copy, if you would like (it's +30 pages -- tons of information, too much to cover in a meeting or a website).
